Istanbul 8th Administrative Court canceled the deputy mayor elections in Bayrampaşa Municipality.
The court issued a stay of execution for the deputy mayorship that CHP candidate İbrahim Kahraman won by lot. Thus, the election result was temporarily canceled and the process was suspended until the final decision of the court.
AKP candidate İbrahim Akın had filed an appeal, claiming that the lottery process was unlawful.
Following the arrest of Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu on September 16, CHP and AKP candidates received equal votes in the election held on September 21, and CHP candidate Kahraman became the deputy mayor.
