Peace academic Aslı Aydemir has been in prison for three months for reacting to the attack on Leman magazine on June 30. Although the court returned the first indictment on the grounds of insufficient evidence, a new indictment has not yet been prepared.
Aydemir’s husband Burhan İnönülü called for justice, saying, “It should have been the attackers with stones and sticks who should have been tried, not my wife.”
CHP MP Gökçe Gökçen also raised the issue in Parliament and reacted to the release of the attackers.
In the case where Aydemir was arrested on charges of “resisting the police” and “intentional injury”, it was argued that the footage of the incident clearly showed the client’s innocence.
