Turgay Erdem, former mayor of Nilüfer in Bursa, was detained on allegations of “bribery and establishing a criminal organization”.
A detention warrant was issued for 21 people within the scope of the investigation conducted by Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The houses and workplaces of the suspects detained together with Erdem and his wife were searched by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch teams.
The prosecutor’s office charged the suspects with “bribery, establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime and laundering assets obtained from crime”.
It is learned that two suspects are abroad and the investigation is ongoing.
