Journalist Selahattin Günday, who was arrested as part of an investigation into former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, rejected the charges against him. Prosecutors treated the publication of footage showing Kozinoğlu arriving at the courthouse on 10 March 2011 as “disclosing information and documents related to intelligence activities” and “unlawfully obtaining or disseminating personal data.” Günday said he had been working at the courthouse for Doğan News Agency at the time but had not recorded the footage in question. Günday was arrested on 15 September on these charges and was later arrested for a second time on a charge of “establishing a criminal organization.” His lawyer Hüseyin Ersöz objected to the arrest, arguing that the relevant provision of the MİT Law was not in force at the time of the alleged offense, the statute of limitations had expired and Günday had not recorded the footage.
