The Istanbul Anatolia 17th Heavy Penal Court held the second hearing of Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler on February 18, 2026, and ruled that he should remain in custody. Köseler, who had previously been released, was re-arrested by order of the 18th Heavy Penal Court following an appeal by the prosecutor’s office. Most of the witnesses testified in Köseler’s favor at the hearing; Köseler stated in his defense that there was no suspicion of flight and no concrete evidence. The court postponed the hearing until April 28, 2026.
