Travel bans imposed on journalists İsmail Saymaz and Murat Ağırel, who had been summoned for statements as part of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office fund investigation, were converted to house arrest after an objection by prosecutors. The two journalists had been summoned to give statements and released under judicial control after the Justice Ministry, Communications Directorate and RTÜK issued warnings concerning broadcasts about the fund crisis. In the same investigation, journalists Mustafa Balcı and Şaban Sevinç, who shared a holiday photograph of AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, were arrested on 9 October on a charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information.”
