The eighth hearing of the trial in which 19 journalists and media workers in Diyarbakır are being tried on charges of “membership in an organization” and “organization propaganda” was held. Journalists, their lawyers, and representatives of professional organizations attended the hearing at the Diyarbakır 4th Heavy Penal Court. Witness Melik Canbay stated that he only knew journalist Aziz Oruç among the defendants and had no information about them outside of their professional activities. Lawyers requested that travel bans be lifted, noting that similar allegations had been made in cases that had previously resulted in acquittals. The court rejected the requests and postponed the hearing until April 9.
