Ekrem İmamoğlu, Presidential Candidate of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and arrested since March 23rd, objected to the rejection of his request for a stay of execution regarding the cancellation of his diploma.
In the appeal petition, it was emphasized that the decision made by the “chairman and members on duty” instead of the actual court panel was against the law and violated the principle of natural judge and the freedom to seek rights.
In the petition submitted to the Istanbul 5th Administrative Court through their lawyers, they requested that the rejection decision be reversed and a stay of execution be ordered. The petition was registered to be forwarded to the Istanbul Regional Administrative Court.
