Gülten Akgül, who had been held in Izmir Şakran Women’s Closed Prison for 31 years, was released after her release was arbitrarily postponed twice.
Akgül, who was denied her freedom with additional 6-month sentences even though her sentence was 30 years, was finally released on August 18, 2025.
He was greeted at the exit of the prison by district executives of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and members of the Association of Families of Prisoners and Convicts (TUHAYDER).
