Nurullah Karaman, a businessman from Edirne’s Meriç district who was on his way to a funeral, claimed that he was detained following harsh and unlawful intervention by police officers. Karaman stated that after overtaking a police vehicle while driving, he was followed into a gendarmerie zone, his path was blocked in the district center, and no evidence of criminal activity was found during the search. Karaman said that while he was recording the intervention on video, the police forcibly put him in their vehicle, took him to the gendarmerie on the instructions of the prosecutor’s office, and filed a complaint against the police officers. It was reported that legal proceedings were initiated following mutual complaints about the incident.
