The police prevented the CHP Beşiktaş District Headquarters from setting up an exhibition in Beşiktaş Square to draw attention to students’ housing and nutrition problems. CHP members wanted to use the exhibition, consisting of beds, suitcases, and lunchboxes, to highlight the housing problems of university students and the nutrition problems of primary school students. Police refused to allow the exhibition to be set up on the grounds that it would disrupt public order and removed the materials from the area. CHP Beşiktaş District Chairman Mehmet Arslan stated that students were unable to find housing and adequate nutrition due to economic reasons; young people, meanwhile, drew attention to the inadequacy of KYK dormitories and the high costs of private dormitories.
