An investigation has been launched into some of the signatories of a statement titled “We Defend Secularism Together” on the grounds of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility.” The Ankara Police Department summoned some of the signatories, including Prof. Dr. Korkut Boratav, Ahmet Telli, İlknur Başer, İsmail Arı, and Bahadır Bedircioğlu, for questioning. Education Minister Yusuf Tekin announced that he had filed a lawsuit against the statement and claimed that the statements contained in it were defamatory. The investigation was conducted in Ankara.
