Boğaziçi University did not accept the master’s thesis of arrested student Abdullah Esin, which was unanimously accepted by the jury. Esin, who was arrested on September 9 due to a social media post criticizing the appointment of trustees to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, was not accepted despite sending his thesis by mail through his lawyer. Faculty member Mine Eder reacted to the unlawfulness by stating that her student’s right to graduate was usurped. His lawyer’s application for an extension of time was also rejected. In this case, Esin’s thesis, which she successfully defended, will not be accepted and her right to education will be violated.
