Journalist Engin Açar, whose home was raided by special operations teams while he was away, was taken to the police station by officers he called to the scene. The journalist, who was apologized to, was later released.

Açar’s home was raided by special operations police while he was at work. When the building attendant reported the incident, Açar arrived at the house and described what happened as follows:

“I’ve been trying to get information since morning, but I can’t get any information from anyone. If you ask me why, I came home, we looked at the security camera footage, but we can’t access it at the moment. A team of 30-35 people came with special forces and raided the house. What I was told is that organized crime and narcotics teams are conducting an operation. I’m not at home. Of course, I went to work around 3:00 or 3:30 a.m. They arrived two or three hours after me. Then my friends broke down the door, searched the place, and left. I’m not being given any information whatsoever. I’m getting this information through the apartment management, around 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. We’ve been dealing with this incident for two or three hours now. We are trying to find out the reason. They are looking at my GBT, my files. There is nothing about me, but on the other hand, they say they will take my statement. For this reason, they took me to the police station. I had a day like a comedy.”

Açar later said that the teams apologized to him.
