A restriction order has been in place for 10 years in the investigation into the simultaneous bomb attacks carried out on May 18, 2015, on the Adana and Mersin provincial buildings of the HDP.
Lawyer Tugay Bek stated that no progress has been made in the case, that victims and lawyers have been denied access to information, and that this is “the longest restriction order ever issued in a criminal investigation.” Bek also said they would apply to have the situation entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Footage of Savaş Yıldız, an ISIS member identified as the perpetrator of the attack, was released to the press by the police the day after the incident. When Yıldız was later captured by the YPG, he claimed in an interview that he had carried out the attacks “on the instructions of the MIT,” and there has been no official denial of these claims.
Bek emphasized that the 10-year restriction decision was contrary to CMK 153, asking, “Are you waiting for the statute of limitations to expire so that the investigation does not progress?”
