Freedom of Expression Association published the EngelliWeb 2024 Report. According to the report, 1 million 264 thousand 506 domain names and websites were blocked in Turkey as of the end of 2024. 852 different institutions and judgeships took 1 million 78 thousand 348 decisions.
As of the end of 2024, 270 thousand URL addresses, 17 thousand Twitter/X accounts, 75 thousand posts, 25 thousand 500 YouTube videos, 16 thousand 700 Facebook content and 16 thousand Instagram content were blocked.
Many domain names and social media accounts of free press organizations Mesopotamia Agency, JINNEWS, Yeni Yaşam and ETHA were also blocked.
The report stated that censorship has gone beyond political actors and become part of the routine functioning of the administration and judiciary, and that the online expression space is under a systematic and permanent censorship regime.
