An investigation was started against People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Sezai Temelli due to the speech he gave during the candidate introduction meeting of his party in Tunceli. The investigation file, started due to “making illegal organization propaganda,” was sent to Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, authorized to revoke Parliamentary immunity.
Another investigation was opened against Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Deputy Co-Chair Halide Türkoğlu, who gave a speech in the same meeting due to “making illegal organization propaganda.”
In his speech, Temelli stated, “We’ve established the People’s Democratic Congress, as well as HDP, but we never had taboos, we haven’t closed our doors. Then we said, ‘We will make politics together, we will make politics social and make society political.’ If we are the ones producing until we get our rights, we will be the ones who govern. We have said, ‘Word, authority, decision and power to the people.’ We’ve then knit this idea from the 70s until today and merged it with a great paradigm. We’ve stood for a democratic nation, a secular, pluralist and democratic republic.’ A thousand greetings to those who knit this opinion by carrying it from yesterday until today, making this paradigm exist. A thousand greetings to Imralı, to Mr. Öcalan. This is the idea that brought us together, and it’s up to us to carry that to the government now.”
