The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into CHP municipal council members Nazife Aktaş, first deputy chair of the Bahçelievler Municipal Council, and Gencay Özkan over allegations that they described the coup attempt as “theater” during a July 15 commemoration program. The prosecutor’s office opened the investigation ex officio on a charge of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility.”
