The final decision on the Zeytinli Rock Festival has been announced. The court lifted the stay of execution against the Sarıyer District Governorate’s decision to cancel the festival and the festival was definitively prevented from taking place.
The District Governorship had canceled the festival on the grounds of “risk of forest fires”. The Regional Administrative Court had suspended this decision; however, after the District Governorate appealed to a higher court, the stay of execution was canceled.
In a statement on social media, the festival team said, “Despite all our efforts, we are very sorry that we cannot continue the Zeytinli Rock Festival. We would like to thank the artists who stood by us, our laborer friends and the participants who trusted us. Those who bought tickets reserve their right to refund.”
This was the second cancellation of the festival. The event, which was previously planned to be held in Marmaris, was also canceled due to the “Special Environmental Protection Zone”.
