Twenty of 25 people detained on 20 September in the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office investigation into the Süleymancılar community were arrested, while five were placed under judicial control. Trustees were also appointed to 23 companies considered to be linked to the community. The prosecutor’s office alleged that the suspects organized domestic and international money transfers through off-the-books channels, carried cash in aid shipments and used certain consultancy companies. The prosecutor’s office also said it had obtained findings indicating that the suspects engaged in financial and organizational activities aimed at influencing election processes.
