T24 reporter Can Öztürk testified at the Istanbul Security Directorate on charges of “spreading misleading information to the public” for reporting on allegations against Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akın.
Öztürk emphasized that he included the opinions of both the victims and Ahmet Akın in his news report and said, “I fulfilled the requirements of the journalism profession by investigating the claims of both sides and giving them the right to speak. I cannot have any aim to spread misleading information to the public.”
Öztürk, who testified within the scope of the investigation into the allegations that Ahmet Akın “sexually abused children during sexual conversion therapy”, stated that Akın neither denied nor accepted the allegations, but that he gave him the right to speak extensively.
