The appeal against the detention of 16-year-old A.K., who was arrested in Izmir on charges of “making organization propaganda” due to a hair braiding video she shared on her social media account, was rejected. The Izmir 1st Juvenile Heavy Penal Court stated in its decision on February 26 that there was strong suspicion of a crime. The court argued that the detention was proportionate due to the current state of evidence and the fact that the defense had not yet been heard, and stated that judicial control would be insufficient. The court unanimously decided to continue the detention.
