The Democratic Institutions Platform protested the attacks on the Kurdish neighborhoods of Sheikh Maksud and Eşrefiye in Aleppo on January 8 at Şişhane Square in Istanbul. After the press statement, police intervened against groups attempting to leave the area. At least 50 people were detained during the intervention. Throughout the protest, police dispersed the crowd citing slogans as justification and established a security cordon around the area.
