Workers from Doruk Madencilik and Elazığ Eti Gümüş, both affiliated with Yıldızlar SSS Holding, sought to meet with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Ankara over unpaid wages and compensation. Citing a 15-day protest ban imposed by the Ankara Governor’s Office, police surrounded the miners outside the Milli Kütüphane Metro Station and intervened against the group. Workers, including Bağımsız Maden-İş officials, were detained. Union President Gökay Çakır said they did not want to meet with the company again and regarded the ministries of Energy, Labor and Interior as their counterparts. He demanded that the workers be brought back under the Turkish Coal Enterprises.
