Forty-four people, including Mayor Emrah Kozay and former Mayor Soner Çetin, were detained in an investigation into Çukurova Municipality in Adana. Prosecutors issued detention orders for 51 people after a three-member expert panel examined documents concerning the municipality’s tender and direct procurement procedures in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Those detained included deputy mayors Vural Köse, Feramuz Oran, Uğurcan Doğan and Bahadır Özdemir, as well as an executive of a municipal company. Mayor Emrah Kozay had previously announced that he had resigned from the CHP and joined the YENİ Party.
