Ankara 9th Administrative Court and Regional Administrative Court canceled important provisions in the lawsuit filed against the METU Dormitories Regulation. Articles such as “behavior contrary to public morality”, which allows students who criticize university administrators on social media to be expelled from the dormitory and whose definition is unclear, were deemed invalid. The court also annulled a provision that stipulated punishment for all students when the guilty parties could not be identified. However, the article authorizing the dormitory board of directors to dismiss students for cause was not canceled. It was noteworthy that the regulation still includes the canceled articles on METU’s official website.
