Gönül Adıbelli, former Co-Chair of the Health and Social Service Workers’ Union (SES), was acquitted of “membership in an illegal organization” charges due to her union activities. In the 8th hearing held at Ankara 4th High Criminal Court, Adıbelli was charged with participating in the March 8 International Women’s Day demonstration and the commemoration of the October 10 Massacre. His lawyers argued that these activities were within the scope of trade union and constitutional rights. The court ruled that the statements did not constitute a criminal offense and acquitted Adıbelli.
