Following journalist Alican Uludağ’s reporting on a post made by Berk Akand regarding the Şule Çet case, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation on the grounds of “publicly disseminating misleading information.” Şule Çet was killed after being thrown from the 20th floor of a plaza in Ankara; defendant Berk Akand received an 18-year, nine-month prison sentence in this case. Uludağ had brought Akand’s social media post from September to the public’s attention.
