Four of the five individuals detained in the “data leak” investigation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality have been arrested. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office referred five suspects to court in an investigation into the alleged transfer of personal data and location information belonging to 4.7 million users abroad. The Criminal Court of Peace ruled to arrest four individuals and release one individual under judicial control. The investigation revealed that ballot data for 11 million citizens was leaked from the “İBB Hanem” application, and that the suspects were employed at the İBB Smart City Directorate and the Communication Coordination Center. With the previous arrests, the number of detainees in the case has risen to 10.
