In the Devrek district of Zonguldak, Ufuk Ören smeared grease on a banner bearing an image of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and tore it down on 8 August. Police detained Ören after Devrek Municipality employees intervened. Following procedures at the police station, Ören was referred to court on 9 August and released under judicial control measures requiring him to report regularly and barring him from leaving the country. Devrek Mayor Özcan Ulupınar said they filed a criminal complaint against Ören.
