The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office detained Sebahattin Şirin, one of Galatasaray’s supporters’ leaders, over his social media posts. Prosecutors initiated proceedings against Şirin on charges of “violating Law No. 6222,” “drug use,” “organized black-market ticket fraud” and “publicly disseminating misleading information.” In an open letter he previously wrote to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, Şirin alleged that there were rumors that some people within the state wanted Fenerbahçe to become champions and called on Gürlek to remain impartial.
