The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed administrative fines at the maximum rate of 3 percent on SZC TV and Koza TV over their broadcasts concerning the investment fund investigation. RTÜK cited as grounds for the penalty on SZC TV allegations made by İsmail Saymaz and Murat Ağırel about Trade Minister Ömer Bolat on the program “Gazeteciler Masası,” and comments on the program “Bir Saat” about Osman Nacar’s relations with politicians. Koza TV was fined over remarks by Evren Özalkuş on the program “Gün İzi” and journalist Fırat Fıstık on “Günün Sonunda” concerning the political connections of the fund investigation. RTÜK ruled that both channels had violated principles of impartiality and ensuring the accuracy of news before broadcasting.
