In an indictment charging journalist Nadiye Gürbüz with “membership in an armed terrorist organization,” her journalistic activities, an interview she conducted and events she attended were cited as evidence. Prosecutors relied on Gürbüz’s work at Etkin News Agency, her interview with İbrahim Çiçek, her attendance at a Suruç commemoration and her communication with news sources as grounds for the charge. The indictment also mentioned Gürbüz’s hunger strike in custody and her exercise of the right to remain silent. Gürbüz, who was detained and arrested on 3 February, was scheduled to appear before Istanbul 25th High Criminal Court on 15 September.
