Silivri Criminal Judgeship of Peace ordered the continued detention of journalist Selahattin Günday, Emre Atmaca and Özlem Uslu in the investigation into the suspicious death in prison of former MİT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu. In a review carried out upon the request of the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the judgeship argued that evidence had not yet been fully collected, that the suspects could flee or tamper with evidence and that judicial control measures would be insufficient. Günday faced charges of “disclosing information and documents concerning intelligence activities,” “establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes” and “unlawfully obtaining or disseminating personal data.” Atmaca and Uslu were investigated on a charge of “intentional killing.” The judgeship separately ordered the continued detention of all three.
