Hakkâri 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance acquitted specialist sergeant İbrahim S., who was accused of breaking the arm of 10-year-old E.T. On 13 August 2025, E.T. was subjected to physical violence by İbrahim S., the husband of a woman the child had hit while riding a bicycle. A case was filed against the specialist sergeant on a charge of intentional injury. At the final hearing, the prosecutor requested that the defendant be punished for intentionally injuring a child unable to defend himself and that an unjust provocation reduction be applied. The court acquitted the defendant on the grounds that it could not be definitively determined how the fracture in the child’s arm occurred. The child’s lawyer, Azad Özer, said the court had accepted that the defendant physically intervened against the child but nevertheless imposed no punishment, and announced that they would appeal the ruling.
