The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed an administrative fine on Sözcü TV for failing to comply with a court decision requiring it to broadcast a reply and correction. In its Main News Bulletin on 13 March 2026, Sözcü TV reported allegations that some members of the scientific team sent to Antarctica lacked merit and had been assigned for travel purposes. The Ministry of Industry and Technology applied to the judiciary for a reply and correction to be broadcast. Ankara 48th Criminal Court of First Instance definitively accepted the correction request on 10 June. RTÜK determined that Sözcü TV had failed to broadcast the correction despite the court decision. The council ruled that the channel had violated Article 8/1-o of Law No. 6112 concerning the right of reply and correction and imposed an administrative fine.
