In a video she posted, Gökçe made remarks targeting the acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, and the sacrifice, and these posts drew backlash on social media. Following the backlash, law enforcement authorities detained Gökçe in Burdur. The Burdur Criminal Court of First Instance arrested Gökçe on charges of “inciting the public to hatred or hostility or insulting them” and sent her to prison.
