The Mesopotamia Women Journalists Association announced in its February 2026 report that human rights violations against journalists have increased. The association’s report stated that in February, 4 journalists’ homes were raided, 5 journalists were detained, and 4 journalists were arrested. The MKG also reported that 8 websites and 7 media accounts were blocked and that journalists faced beatings, obstruction, and ill-treatment in the field.
