Following the closure of Dicle News Agency by decree, the 16th hearing of journalist Abdullah Kaya, who is being tried on charges of “being a member of an organization” and “knowingly and willingly aiding an organization,” was held at the Ağrı 2nd Heavy Penal Court. Kaya, who connected via SEGBIS from the Diyadin Courthouse, stated in his defense that he was a journalist and that journalism was not a crime. Kaya’s lawyer did not attend the hearing, citing an excuse. The court ruled that the case should await the decision of the Court of Appeals and postponed the hearing until January 22, 2026.
