İsmail Çelik, who was arrested for 19 days on charges of “insulting the President” for protesting against companies selling arms to Israel at the IDEF 2025 Defense Industry Fair, was denied release by the court. In a note sent from prison, Çelik stated that the main reason for his arrest was his defense of the Palestinian people and his opposition to Turkey’s trade with Israel. His lawyer emphasized that the slogan was political criticism and that the arrest decision was unlawful and disproportionate.
