EMEP MYK member Halil İmrek was summoned to testify on charges of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” for his social media post criticizing the trustee appointments and the arrest of trade unionist Mehmet Türkmen. On February 17, 2025, İmrek criticized the trustee appointments in Van and the arrest of trade unionist Mehmet Türkmen, stressing that his statements were within the scope of freedom of expression. His lawyer requested a decision of non-prosecution, stating that his client shared his political views and had no criminal intent.
