The verdict came out in the case against the relatives of Mehmet Şirin Kocakaya, who was murdered during a military operation in Lice in 2016, and Azadiya Welat reporter Sadık Araz, who covered the incident. In the 27th hearing, 22 people were sentenced to 2 months and 15 days in prison each for “opposing the Provincial Administration Law”. They were acquitted on other charges. 5 different court committees took part in the 9-year-long trial. The court did not include any assessment of Kocakaya’s death.
