The Istanbul Bar Association stated that the detention of lawyer Ali Şafak, who was detained in the investigation against Şile Municipality, was unlawful due to a sudden intervention at night hours on the grounds of his professional activity. The Bar Association stated that the right to defense was violated during the detention process, bar association representatives were prevented from performing their duties and legal procedures were not followed during the house search. The Bar Association announced that the practices constitute an open pressure not only on the individual but also on the defense and that a criminal complaint will be filed against those involved.
