With the decision of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), Sözcü TV was taken off the air for 10 days as of 00:00 on July 9, 2025. In the last minutes before the decision, the channel broadcasted in black and white, showing the faces of its screen faces, the production team and executives on the screen.
In the last broadcast, freedom of the press was defended, the message was given that the editorial line would be maintained and Sözcü was not alone. Journalists called for support.
The penalty imposed by RTÜK on March 27 was first suspended by the Ankara 25th Administrative Court. However, Ankara 7th Administrative Court canceled this decision and the blackout went into effect.
Throughout the day, politicians and viewers visited Sözcü TV in support.
