While the verdict is expected in the 56th hearing of the trial regarding the “Operation Return to Life” carried out in Bayrampaşa Prison in 2000, the court has decided to postpone the trial for another week. 39 privates and 157 ranking soldiers were on trial. The prosecutor had demanded life imprisonment for the defendants on charges of 12 counts of intentional murder and 29 counts of attempted murder. While the intervening families and lawyers drew attention to the policies of torture, evidence suppression and impunity, the hearing was adjourned to November 17, 2025.
