Yeni Yaşam Newspaper distributor Zilan Gül was sentenced to 2 years and 1 month in prison for “selling and distributing banned publications”. In the trial held at Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court, the prosecution claimed that Gül made “illegal organization propaganda”. Gül’s lawyer Resul Tamur demanded acquittal, stating that according to the Press Law, distributors cannot be held responsible for the content. The court rejected this defense and sentenced him. Lawyer will appeal the verdict.
