The Istanbul Governor’s Office blocked a march planned by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) on February 17, 2026, to protest the privatization of bridges and highways from Beşiktaş Ortaköy to Arnavutköy. The Governor’s Office stated that the requested route was not among those specified under Law No. 2911 and that it would negatively impact traffic and security. CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik announced that they would gather in Ortaköy at 5:00 p.m. on February 17 despite the decision.
