Rights organizations participating in the study meeting organized by the Ministry of Justice on February 14, 2019 within the “New Human Rights Action Plan Preparation” subtopic of the government’s second 100-day action plan made a statement on the report they presented to the Ministry of Justice.

The report was presented on the matters not discussed in the meeting and consists of suggestions under the topics of “right to live and torture,” “right to protection from dishonouring mistreatment,” “right to freedom and safety” and “right to fair trial.” The report carries the signatures of the Human Rights Association (IHD), Memory Center, Monitoring Association for Equal Rights (ESHID), Citizenship Association, Diyarbakır Bar Association, Turkish Medical Association (TTB), Rights Initiative Association and Civil Society in the Penal System Association (CISST).

Speaking at the press meeting, IHD Co-Chair Öztürk Türkdoğan pointed out that “In order for Turkey to prepare a new action plan on human rights, the current state of affairs must initially be revealed in terms of human rights with its Constitutional and legal dimensions.”
