Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance issued a verdict of acquittal for Evrensel Daily’s Editor-In-Chief Fatih Polat, who was on trial due to the news published on the newspaper’s February 22, 2010 issue with the title, “I will enrage the MPs and resolve the matter.” The journalist was charged with “publicly revealing a confidential communication between persons” due to the news on the voice recordings allegedly belonging to former GNAT Constitutional Commission Chairman Burhan Kuzu and the former Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek.
