Journalist Fatih Altaylı gave a statement at the Istanbul Courthouse as part of an investigation launched after a BirGün report said paid extras had been brought to a CHP badge-pinning event. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had launched the investigation following a complaint by Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Organization. A report by BirGün reporter Ebru Çelik said hundreds of people from different casting agencies had been brought to the event for 950 lira. Ömer İne, owner of Merss Prodüksiyon, one of the agencies, confirmed that he had supplied extras for the event but said he had not received payment from the CHP. Ebru Çelik, Uğur Koç, Berkant Gültekin, Timur Soykan and Nedim Bayhan had previously given statements as part of the investigation. Journalist Uğur Dündar was also called in for questioning.
